FOR CURRENT H-LICENCE
FIREARM HOLDERS

  1. Personally present your current firearms license and Queensland photographic identification (i.e. Queensland drivers licence) and complete a Metropolitan Pistol Club membership application form in front of the Club Captain or Executive Member on a Monday or Wednesday night from 6pm. Fees and next steps will be advised at time of applying.
  2. A letter from your previous pistol club (as a character reference) and two references from people you have known for more than two (2) years (must be stated in the reference and cannot be a family member).
  3. Once approved by the Executive, you will get a letter inviting you to join, with an amount to pay for membership fees on a pro rata basis plus a joining fee.
  4. Once this amount is paid you will be given a membership number and photo ID.
  5. You will then need to attend and complete a Club Induction. An induction must be completed before shooting on MPC ranges. Inductions are held in the clubhouse on the first Monday every month at 6pm sharp.


FOR A/B-LICENCED HOLDERS (long arms)
  1. Due to the nature of conceable firearms, obtaining your H Licence is more restrictive. This includes a PROBATIONARY PERIOD of a minimum of six (6) months prior to applying for your H Licence, and attendance and participation in a minimum of three (3) handgun shooting competitions.
  2. Personally present your current firearms license and Queensland photographic identification (i.e. Queensland drivers licence) and complete a Metropolitan Pistol Club membership application form in front of the Club Captain or Executive Member on a Monday or Wednesday night from 6pm. Fees and next steps will be advised at time of applying.
  3. Present two references from people you have known for more than two (2) years (must be stated in the reference and cannot be a family member).
  4. Once approved by the Executive, you will get a letter inviting you to join with an amount to pay for membership fees on a pro rata basis and a joining fee.
  5. Once this amount is paid you will be given a membership number and photo ID.
  6. You will then need to attend and complete Club Induction. An induction must be completed before shooting on MPC ranges. Inductions are held in the clubhouse on the first Monday every month at 6pm sharp.
  7. At the induction you will be given a Training Passport for your seven modules of safety training. These training nights start at 6pm on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday nights.


FOR NON H-LICENCED HOLDERS (
pistol):
  1. Due to the nature of conceable firearms, obtaining your H Licence is more restrictive. This includes a PROBATIONARY PERIOD of a minimum of six (6) months prior to applying for your H Licence, and attendance and participation in a minimum of three (3) handgun shooting competitions.
  2. Download and complete form QP515 Application for Statement of Eligibility from the QPS website, or from a police station. This form is to ensure you are a fit and proper person to hold a licence. Submit your completed application to police at a police station, along with 100 points of identification.
  3. When a Statement of Eligibility or 'Form 36' is received back from the police to you, you may now apply to join Metropolitan Pistol Club, along with two written references from people you have known for more than two (2) years (must be stated in the reference and cannot be a family member)
  4. Once approved by the Executive, you will get a letter inviting you to join with an amount to pay for membership fees on a pro rata basis and a joining fee.
  5. Once this amount is paid you will be given a membership number and photo ID.
  6. Once you are a member you will then need to attend and complete a Club Induction.
  7. An induction must be completed before shooting on MPC ranges. Inductions are held in the clubhouse first Monday every month at 6:00pm sharp.
  8. At the induction you will be given a Training Passport for your seven modules of safety training. These training nights are start at 6pm on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesday nights. If this timing is not possible, please talk to a member of the Executive to arrange an alternative time.


PLEASE NOTE that, unlike many other shooting clubs, we do not charge you per range visit (except for shotgun discipline due to the cost of the clays), or to use the club-supplied targets, or to use club guns at our ISSF Monday/Wednesday night matches. We also offer a discount for family members. Please contact us for further details. You are welcome to attend the range as many times as you wish during the year. Always refer to the range open/closed notices on the Club noticeboard at the clubhouse, or the Calendar page of this website.
