Getting Started in the sport

Despite recent changes in legislation, getting involved in the exciting sport of pistol shooting is still a fairly straight forward process. Its extreamly safe and fun for all the family. Anyone from the age of 11 can compete. Under 18's will require parental consent.

Step 1 Download and complete form QP515 from the QLD Police website. Send this application into police.
Step 2 Get two character reference letters. These can be from anyone, be it family, friends, work colleges, neighbours.

Step 3 Bring the Statement of Eligibility, obtained from police, and your two character references to the Metropolitan Pistol club on a wednesday night at 7pm. You will then be run through an induction, and basic gun handling. Once your membership is accepted, your free to start attending the range to begin your coaching.

What do I need to bring? You will need a set of ear muffs and safty glasses. You do not need to spend hundreds on a pair of electronic ear muffs, a set from your local hardware store is all you need. Just ensure they are rated high enough to protect your ears. Some may even consider ear plugs as well.
